Luke Edwards is a trainee journalist who resides in Wantage, Oxfordshire. An English Literature and Creative Writing graduate from the University of Warwick, Luke completes a four-hour rail commute every Monday, Tuesday and Friday to Twickenham, where he learns shorthand, reporting, and how to write.
So, Luke, great to finally have you on. Why have you started this blog?
I have a four hour commute, three days a week, totalling 12 hours of Quality Me Time. Instead of finding a placement, practicing shorthand or listening to Nick Ferrari angrily thump his desk because Pret aren’t selling any sandwiches, I thought I’d do some writing. It’s a great way to pretend you’re being productive, without actually doing anything that requires effort.
Wait, but what does this mean for the critically-acclaimed EuroZone Football Podcast and Website? Will I still be able to get my updates on Real Betis?
EuroZone will still happen, occasionally. It’s purely dependent on me and Joe being available at the same time, and me having the time to watch enough La Liga games to source reliable opinions, so I don’t need to get them from reddit. Betis discussion could end up on either blog, depending on how serious the content is.
But I love the podcast, is there anything I can do to free up time for you and Joe?
As part of this blog, I will be campaigning against all forms of green energy. The more oil we use, the sooner we run out of it, meaning Joe Spagnoli has to leave his job at the petrol station and we can get back to making podcasts. Until then, make sure to always leave your lights on and to source your meat from as inconvenient a place as possible. I’ve heard great things about grilled penguin.
I’ve only ever seen you write about football. What sort of other things are you planning on writing about?
Music, books, TV shows, esports, maybe some politics if I accidentally put too much sugar in my morning tea. Like the proverbial plastic bag, I will be drifting through the wind, going where it takes me. Except, like the guy from Up, I have some sort of mechanism that stops me from flying into pylons, seagulls, and other obstacles.
As this blog has a train theme, will you be writing about trains?
No.
